This is a part of a book I have been intermittently writing for the past 30 years. Given the current crisis in Haiti, seems a timely moment to make available. It’s not complete. I will add all the references in the upcoming weeks or months, but I think it is useful. I have always found that most histories about Haiti get bogged down on irrelevancies. This was an attempt to distill the critical parts of the history in a few pages as possible.
